About

Hello! Thanks for stopping by. My name is Maureen. You can call me “Mo” for short. I’m a 20-something writer, editor and creative with a love for storytelling and adventure. Born and bred in the Magic City, I’ve always been fascinated by the way this town shines. So I’ve put my passion to practice and made Miami my playground, danced with its inhabitants and experiences singular to this city, and generously dipped my hands in writing meaningful stories that aim to inform, inspire and engage.

You can find my work in local outlets including Miami Living and Miami New Timeswhere I bring to life South Florida's skyrocketing food scene, rich blend of ethnic enclaves, exciting seasonal trends and brilliant tastemakers. In addition to freelancing, I’m a full-time content manager at Entertainment Benefits Group. I specialize in digital content strategy and creation in order to grow our online presence and increase business ventures for EBG’s corporate, travel and entertainment websites spanning Orlando, Las Vegas and New York markets. But there’s nothing like the adventures I get to experience in the city I call home.

Before returning to the 305, I served as the editor-in-chief of Sparks Magazine, Florida’s first Asian American magazine headquartered in Gainesville, Florida. It was here where I first fueled my zest for the written word and earned a bachelor of science in journalism and minor in business administration from the University of Florida.

Other key editorial undertakings include positions at Culture DesignersThe Independent Florida Alligator, Gainesville Today, Orange & Blue Magazine, Cliché Magazine, the digital media department at Ryan Seacrest Productions, and the public relations and marketing sector of MRL Communications.

Most days, I’m typing away at my desk or inside a local coffee shop. Other days, I’m dining at Miami’s most buzzing restaurant of the moment, planning my next vacation or attempting to work out for the said vacation. Pastime hobbies include binge-watching Netflix and scarfing down copious amounts of ice cream – usually at the same time.
